Vickie is an experienced C-SLPA who now works part-time at a public charter school serving individuals from Kindergarten through 8th grade. Retired from the USAF as an MSgt and a graduate of the University of Arizona with a bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences, she has been involved with Arizona state and national-level SLPA issues. As a volunteer with ASHA, she worked on the initial national certification for SLPAs and became the first C-SLPA in Arizona. Vickie is a member of the ASHA Council for Clinical Competency (CFCC) and chair of the CFCC Assistants committee. Working with ArSHA, Vickie helped change the membership rules and bylaws, giving SLPAs a full vote in their state committee and the ability to hold various ArSHA board positions. She views herself as an advocate for the growing SLPA profession.
