Torrey Robinson

Torrey R. Robinson is a doctoral student in the Department of Population Health Science at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and a certified Speech- Language Pathologist. A native of Mississippi, she holds a B.S. and M.S. in Communicative Disorders from Jackson State University. She completed interdisciplinary training in infant and early childhood development through the UMMC Child Health and Developmental Promotion Fellowship, which emphasized neurodevelopmental evaluation and family-centered care. Her research focuses on maternal and child health, early childhood development, health literacy, health policy, and community-engaged approaches. Her current research interests also include social capital, which refers to the networks, relationships, trust, and shared values that connect individuals and communities, and how these social resources influence health outcomes such as development and well-being among children and families in Mississippi.
