Mary Billings, MS, CCC-SLP, COM®, is a licensed and certified Speech-Language Pathologist through the American Speech Language & Hearing Association and the current owner of Billings Speech Pathology Services in Kansas City, Missouri. Her clinical focus is in orofacial myofunctional disorders encompasses feeding and swallowing aversions, dysphagia, motor-based speech disorders, dentofacial and other craniofacial abnormalities as well as pediatric feeding. Over the years she has developed and facilitated a multidisiciplinary professional collaboration for patient care.
Mary is a Certified Orofacial Myologist and is active in leadership roles within the field. She served as the IAOM’s first Mentoring Chair from 2008-2013 and was subsequently elected President of the IAOM where she served as President-Elect and Chair of the Nonprofit Governance Committee from 2013-2015. She then served as President from 2015-2017. In 2011 she was awarded the Connie Painter Distinguished Service Award for her efforts and in 2018 she was awarded the highly prestigious IAOM President’s Award for her accomplishments while in office. She was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Oral Motor Institute in 2016 and in 2017 was a requested by ASHA to serve as a “subject matter expert” reviewer and update its bibliography for their Practice Portal on OMD’s. She is a current member of ASHA, IAOM, AAPMD, OMI, and AAPPSPA.
She is a well-known lecturer on the topic of Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders and has lectured extensively across the US and internationally at conferences, conventions, and through webinars. She is an IAOM approved instructor for their 28- hour intensive studies course for people pursing Certification (COM®) in the field.
