Lauramarie Pope, PhD, CCC-SLP, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at Auburn University and a practicing clinical speech-language pathologist. Her research and teaching center on augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), with a particular focus on individuals on the autism spectrum and the integration of literacy into AAC interventions.
Dr. Pope’s work emphasizes equitable access to AAC systems and services, naturalistic developmental behavioral interventions (NDBIs), and the development of perceptual and decoding skills for individuals with complex communication needs. She is a frequent presenter at national and international conferences and has published extensively on AAC system design, literacy adaptations, and racial disparities in AAC access.
