Joy Hesse, MA, CCC-SLP, BCS-S, is a board-certified swallowing specialist and certified lymphedema therapist focusing on head and neck care. With 35 years of experience, she has been a speech pathologist at the Iowa ENT Center for 25 years, specializing in swallowing and voice evaluation and treatment, particularly for professional voice users and head and neck cancer patients. Joy frequently lectures for the Iowa Choral Directors Association and Des Moines Metropolitan Opera Young Artists and has collaborated closely with Mercy Des Moines Oncology on proactive dysphagia management. She has presented at ASHA on FEES, contributed to Cross Country Education on voice and resonance disorders, and provided in-house training in FEES and video stroboscopy for clinicians and physicians. Joy also consults for Tactile Medical, sharing expertise on internal lymphedema and pneumatic compression treatment for head and neck cancer patients.
