Betty Yu, PhD, CCC-SLP, is a Professor in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and Co-Managing Editor of the *Journal of Critical Study of Communication and Disability*. Her research and clinical work explore how communication access for racially minoritized, disabled children in multilingual communities is shaped by institutional policies, family socialization, and dominant ideologies surrounding race, language, and disability.
Dr. Yu’s scholarship also focuses on equity within the field of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences (SLHS), with particular attention to the systemic impacts of raciolinguistic discrimination, ableism, and pathologization. Through her work, she advocates for inclusive, justice-oriented practices that challenge traditional norms and expand access to meaningful communication.
