Anna Ware

MS, CCC-SLP
Anna Ware has been a clinical practicing SLP for 15 years. She has grown her expertise and passion working with all ages within the Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) specialty while working at Shirley Ryan Ability Lab and Shriners Hospital in Chicago. She has taught professional-level CE and graduate-level courses on AAC. She hopes to make AAC knowledge more widespread and available to clinicians in all settings. She feels no person should be left without a voice or the opportunity to learn and obtain communication. She has advocated at the state level with funding processes to ensure funding availability for all clients when it comes to higher technology resources. She also advocates finding and implementing all the free and paper-based resources so every clinician can incorporate AAC in any setting. She has learned that a big part of her advocacy is ensuring her own cultural humility and responsibility in the field, especially being part of the team that facilitates developing a means to communicate with someone. She has recently started her own practice as well in the Chicago area, AAC Aware PLLC. You can also follow her on Instagram @AAC_Aware. She earned her undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University and her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at Seton Hall University in New Jersey. She has lived in Chicago since graduation and has fallen in love with the city. She is now raising her family here, which includes her two young sons and spouse.
