Greg Bryant

PhD
Dr. Greg Bryant is a Professor in the UCLA Department of Communication. His research examines human communication and cognition from an evolutionary perspective, focusing on vocal communication, music, emotional expression, and social signaling. His work explores how humans use prosody, laughter, infant-directed speech, and musical features of the voice to communicate meaning across cultures. Using acoustic analysis, behavioral experiments, and cross-cultural methods, Dr. Bryant investigates how vocal signals convey emotion, intention, and social connection in both everyday interaction and early development.
