Sharon Konrad

Sharon Konrad is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at California State University, Long Beach, where she has served as a faculty member since January 2009. She began her career in higher education as a clinical instructor, progressed to lecturer, and in August 2020 accepted a tenure-track position. Dr. Konrad has co-led three independent study abroad courses to China, Vietnam, and Guatemala, providing students with opportunities to enhance their professional development and expand their global perspectives. For over a decade, she has worked closely with the California Nursing Students Association as a Faculty Advisor and Co-Advisor, fostering leadership and engagement among nursing students. With 25 years of experience in adult critical care, Dr. Konrad returned to bedside practice in January 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. She has worked as a travel nurse across five states and the U.S. Virgin Islands and served as a cruise ship nurse during her graduate studies. Her bedside roles included charge nurse, code blue team member, relief enterostomal nurse, BCLS instructor, and preceptor for numerous nurses. Dr. Konrad’s research focuses on nursing education, student nurse anxiety related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the development of professional identity. She is committed to advancing nursing education while supporting the growth and success of future nurses.
