Mattie Murrey Tegels

MA, CCC-SLP, CLSC
Mattie Murrey Tegels, MA, CCC-SLP, CLSC, is a medical speech-language pathologist, Certified Life Strategies Coach, and passionate educator with over 25 years of global clinical experience. She earned her Master of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Washington State University in 1992 and has since worked across a wide range of medical settings, including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and international care environments. Throughout her career, Mattie has completed nearly 24,000 hours of one-on-one skilled intervention and mentored over 100 students and clinical fellows. She currently resides in Minnesota, where she serves as a college professor and clinical supervisor for a graduate program in Communication Sciences and Disorders, working almost exclusively with students. Mattie is the newly appointed MNSHA Future Professionals Committee Advisor, supporting graduate and undergraduate SLPs across the state. She is a member of ASHA Special Interest Groups 3, 13, and 18, and has presented at both state-level conferences and ASHA Connect. Her speaking engagements span master’s and doctoral-level courses on topics including aphasia, dysphagia, voice disorders, and counseling. She holds nationally recognized certifications in MBSImP and LSVT, and is also a speaker for the National Alliance on Mental Illness, where she integrates her clinical expertise with mental health advocacy.
