Acalculia

Acalculia

Overview:

Acalculia is an acquired loss of the ability to perform calculations, often due to brain injury. It may result from specific damage to numerical processing areas or from broader cognitive-linguistic deficits. SLPs address acalculia when it co-occurs with aphasia or other neurogenic disorders. Intervention may target functional math skills important for daily living.
