Successful supervision is a critical part of preparing the next generation of speech-language pathologists. In this course, Dr. Fé Gonzalez Murray, EdD, CCC-SLP, and Julia Cai, MS, CCC-SLP, will explore the supervisor’s role in supporting graduate SLP students during clinical placements while fostering confidence, clinical reasoning, and professional growth.
Participants will learn strategies for setting clear expectations, building effective communication routines, and creating supportive learning experiences within the workplace. The presenters will also discuss approaches for navigating common supervisory challenges, including feedback conversations, student performance concerns, and balancing supervision responsibilities with daily clinical demands.
This course will provide clinicians with practical guidance to help graduate SLP students develop the skills needed for successful clinical practice while strengthening the supervisory experience for both students and supervisors.
