Eliciting a correct "R" is only part of the work. The sound also has to carry over from words into conversational speech. In this course, Pam Marshalla, MA, CCC-SLP, blends articulation and oral-motor therapy for the misarticulated "R" phoneme, drawing on her book of the same title.

Pam begins with methods to facilitate first productions of "R," including how to elicit both a Back R and a Tip R and how to build better jaw, lip, and tongue control for the sound. She then shows how to lock in on that first sound and build a transition repertoire.

From there, you'll learn practical methods of carryover that help clients move "R" from words into conversational speech.
