Working with anxious teens can feel challenging, especially when mental health concerns overlap with language-learning disorders. This course helps SLPs better understand how anxiety can affect communication, learning, and participation while reducing the uncertainty many clinicians experience when supporting adolescents with complex needs. Presented by Kary Mirasola, MS, CCC-SLP, the session combines current perspectives with practical, school-based strategies to help SLPs feel more confident in their role.
Through real-world case studies, participants will learn how to apply their language expertise to support problem solving, reduce emotional barriers to communication, and help adolescents access and use effective communication strategies across everyday situations. The course emphasizes practical approaches that can be integrated into therapy while fostering greater confidence and reducing stigma when working with this population.
