This course will review the evaluation and management of a variety of neurological disorders affecting voice production, including laryngeal dystonia, tremor, ALS, and Parkinson’s Disease. The lab portion will focus particularly on adductor spasmodic dysphonia and vocal tremor which are neurogenic voice disorders that are encountered in the voice clinic. While Botox injection is the gold standard for temporary symptom relief, patients benefit from adjuvant voice therapy that is tailored to their compensatory behavior and imbalance in phonatory subsystems.
