The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services aims to "eliminate health disparities, achieve health equity, and attain health literacy to improve the health and well-being of all." Health literacy is how individuals find, understand, and use information and services to inform health-related decisions and actions. Health equity emphasizes the importance of addressing all people inclusively and respectfully. This session will review principles of health literacy and equity, align these with our Code of Ethics, and provide strategies for communicating with clients in ways that meet health literacy and health equity principles.
