For SLPs who serve culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) learners, one question continues to arise: Is this a language disorder or a language difference? Dynamic assessment offers an evidence-based path forward. By focusing on how a child learns with support rather than what they already know, it provides clinicians with the tools to make more accurate, culturally responsive diagnostic decisions. In this course, Maria E. Chisolm, MS, CCC-SLP, demonstrates how to put dynamic assessment into practice with confidence.
Using real-world case studies, participants will apply the test-teach-retest framework across two key domains: word learning and narrative language. The course also examines how to conduct mediated learning experiences (MLE), interpret modifiability, and strengthen clinical decision-making with practical strategies that can be applied immediately across clinical settings.
