In this course, Desi Peña, MA, CCC-SLP, reviews the process of conducting linguistically and culturally responsive speech-language evaluations, with an emphasis on tailoring assessment practices and writing reports that accurately reflect students’ communication skills.
She’ll help you examine your current evaluation practices, identify areas for improvement, and consider appropriate tools, tasks, and strategies for assessing students in both English and their home languages. You’ll also learn about designing and conducting dynamic assessments and incorporating findings from clinical interviews and other assessment procedures into evaluation reports.
Through clinical case examples and hands-on activities, you’ll practice analyzing assessment findings and refining your clinical writing. You’ll leave with practical templates, wording, and resources to help you conduct more individualized evaluations and write reports that reflect each student’s linguistic and cultural background.
