In this course, Dr. Anna Vagin shares her extensive knowledge and expertise on how to use YouTube animation videos with children who have social learning issues. She explains how research supports using materials that “move” especially with children on the autism spectrum. Video animations—with words or without words—are engaging and provide excellent examples of social interaction and pragmatics. They exemplify how feelings are an important aspect of our human experience. Dr. Vagin details specific therapy procedures on how to fun and effectively use and apply short YouTube animation videos in therapy.

Char Boshart is a speech-language pathologist, author, seminar presenter, and president and co-founder of Speech Dynamics, Inc. She graduated with her Master’s degree from Western Michigan University under the extraordinary tutelage of Dr. Charles Van Riper, the “father” of articulation therapy during the final years of his illustrious career. Char began her career in the public schools in the early 70’s with a caseload of over 110 children. Since then, she has worked many years in the public schools, developed and ran her own private practice, and, for seven years was an Assistant Professor and Department Chair of the Speech Pathology and Audiology Department at Loma Linda University in southern California. Her interest in creating effective therapy techniques has evolved into the development of several practical articulation publications, videos (articulation and language), and articles.
Anna Vagin, PhD, is a licensed speech/language pathologist with over 30 years experience. Currently in private practice in Marin County, she provides individual sessions and social learning groups to families and children 6 months through young adulthood. Her particular interest is using media to support social thinking in students with diagnoses such as ASD, ADHD, NVLD, Language Disorder, Anxiety Disorder, Social Communication Disorder or Twice Exceptional.
