This course on orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs) is designed to enhance the clinical understanding of practitioners. Participants will learn how diagnostics and therapeutic approaches have changed over the years, identify etiologies and parameters of the disorder, and how a multidisciplinary approach often facilitates effective treatment and scope of practice for team members will be delineated. A review of the anatomy and physiology of the orofacial complex brings all participants to a common knowledge base providing new comprehensive methods of clinical assessment and effective treatment planning as well as a critical understanding of how structures can be impacted by atypical function.
