The Ethics of NPO: Updating Practice in Dysphagia Management

This course meets ASHA's Ethics PD requirement.

"Risk" is a word that guides most clinicians' decision-making in dysphagia management. However, when healthcare providers are overly risk-averse, there are worse patient outcomes. Emerging literature on dysphagia has increased the complexities in what has been previously considered "risky" versus "safe." This presentation will cover ethical principles in healthcare and how they can be applied to patient care in dysphagia management.
