Starting acceptance-based therapy with a school-age child who stutters means first recognizing their stuttering profile and determining where to begin. In this course, Vivian Sisskin, MS, CCC-SLP, BCS-F, F-ASHA, Benjamin Goldstein, MA, CCC-SLP, Maria Binger, MA, CCC-SLP, and Nicholas Brow, MA, CCC-SLP, present a framework for acceptance-based therapy guided by concepts from Avoidance Reduction Therapy for Stuttering (ARTS®).
The presenters share strategies to help children who stutter identify their own challenges in achieving comfortable, confident, and spontaneous communication. You'll learn how to develop collaborative goals that are functional and meaningful, and how to design acceptance-based therapy activities for both young school-age children and adolescents.
