This course will review concepts of neurodiversity and provide SLPs with effective and evidence-based strategies that can be used to support autistic learners in both classrooms and clinic settings. The presenter will review concepts of neurodiversity and strength-based approaches and will discuss the underlying neuroanatomy and neurophysiology of autism to develop a greater understanding of the why behind what we see clinically in autistic learners. The presenter will also discuss information on effective and efficient ways to identify autistic learners' strengths, learning styles, and self-determination. Lastly, the presenter will review evidence-based supports and strategies that support autistic learners learning styles and development in the classroom and clinic. The presenter will also provide a resource list of materials and videos.
