This course meets ASHA's Supervision PD requirement.
Interprofessional Education (IPE) is essential for preparing future professionals to collaborate effectively—especially in school settings, where student needs often call for integrated support. As defined by the World Health Organization, IPE happens when two or more professionals learn about, from, and with each other to improve outcomes through collaboration.
This intermediate-level course is designed for experienced school-based SLPs who supervise graduate interns. You'll explore how to model and intentionally teach interprofessional skills already woven into your school-based routines. Drawing from a university pilot IPE project with students in speech-language pathology, special education, and elementary education, the session will share practical strategies to strengthen collaborative competencies through supervision.
You'll leave with tools to create purposeful observation opportunities, promote authentic collaborative practice, and help future SLPs build the skills they need to thrive in today’s school teams.
