This course delves into contemporary issues in Speech Sound Disorders (SSD) for practicing SLPs who are looking to level up their pediatric motor speech therapy. The Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing treatment approach will be discussed, and multiple strategies will be used to keep your clients engaged in conscious practice. The 'r' phoneme is one of the most difficult phonemes to remediate for clients with persistent, long-term 'r' production errors. Identifying the nature of the production error will guide you in choosing appropriate remediation strategies for your client. Finally, this conference will focus on recent research on caregiver depression and stress, obstacles to accessing care, and the role of functional communication, including the impact of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Through case studies, participants will gain insights into the effect of SSD on patients and their families, as well as how provider attitudes influence outcomes across settings and disciplines.
