Play is one of the most powerful tools at our disposal, and can be used with any and all populations when it comes to building overall communication. In this course, Erin will discuss what play is defined as, what play-based therapy is, and how to incorporate it with your medically complex patients. This course will dive into how to assess the whole child when it comes to our therapy techniques and our overall therapeutic sense of self for improved language and communication development. Sensory strategies, relationship-based therapeutic interventions, and AAC intervention specifically will be described in regard to this population. Erin will demonstrate the utilization of a trauma-informed lens when assessing this population throughout the course and how that can inform your overall treatment. Case studies will also be included to integrate various theories. This course will leave you feeling more confident in the value of you as the most valuable therapy tool to better serve any and all patients on your caseload.
