In this course, you will learn about the Neurodiversity approach to Autism. We will begin by covering relevant terminology. We will discuss assessment practices that are strength-based and in line with Neurodiversity. Neurodiversity-affirming evidence-based therapeutic speech-language intervention for the autistic population will be covered. Communication, pragmatic, ethical therapy practices, as well as potentially trauma-inducing practices that SLPs need to be aware of when working with this population, will be examined.
