As our field continues to shift to a more neurodiversity-affirming lens, goal writing can often pose a challenge. Language and how we talk about and describe things directly impact our view of a child, a caregiver's view of a child, and our treatment. Specifically, it can greatly impact HOW we engage in feeding and language therapy when we aren’t sure how to cater our goals to these new core values that ND-affirming care promotes. This course will help clinicians take a deep dive into that critical thinking component of goal writing in a way that can help measure progress while also shifting how we view progress. As we start to write more strength-based, child-led, and affirming goals, our practice will also change. Tune in as the presenter shares case studies and goal examples, but mostly permission to write the goals we want to write and that fit best for the child in front of us and a family’s goals. Did you ever consider we can actually write goals for the caregiver and even the clinician within our session? Did you ever consider that we, as SLPs, can write goals for regulation as a pre-linguistic skill? This course will explore feeding, floortime, and language goals. Small changes like this can make a world of difference in your practice!
