Much of the discourse regarding feeding therapy with all populations includes opportunities and exposure to various foods. However, we have to take the time to understand if those opportunities and experiences with foods for our neurodivergent clients and children are meaningful to them. With mealtime being such an intimate and personal experience, if we do not work to understand that child’s intrinsic motivation, how they learn about their world, and how they want to engage, we cannot truly build their curiosity around food. This course will explore strategies to help create meaningful opportunities for our autistic and neurodivergent clients to create a more positive mealtime experience for the child, caregiver, and clinician.
