This course closely examines how children progress through the phases of word reading development to read and spell proficiently. Linda will guide you to recognize the typical language, reading, and spelling behaviors of each phase and how to support students to transition to the next phase. In addition, you will engage in case studies to analyze difficulties children present (e.g., sound-blending) and apply evidence-based techniques to accelerate reading and spelling progress.
