This episode features a Sri Lankan Canadian Speech Language Pathologist describing how her experiences growing up with multiple languages and cultures have informed her speech and language therapy practice. The host and guest will discuss how one’s implicit biases formed from one’s mother culture and/or language may cause unintended consequences for speech therapy clients. They will also show how a mental shift in thinking and a better understanding of language acquisition can help improve assessment and outcomes for clients.
