Building on the foundation of previous courses, this session with Adina Soclof, MS, CCC-SLP, expands your toolkit with new strategies for strengthening executive functioning in daily family life.
As human beings, we all have the capacity to set goals, solve problems, and manage life’s challenges using high-level cognitive skills known as executive functions. These skills guide how we plan, prioritize, manage time, and regulate emotions throughout the day.
In this continued exploration, Adina will take a closer look at how executive functioning shapes a parent’s ability to manage the many responsibilities of home and family life. Parents with strong executive skills are better equipped to create structure, maintain routines, and help their children build these same abilities. When these skills are underdeveloped, everyday transitions—like getting ready for school or winding down at bedtime—can feel overwhelming.
This course will highlight common executive functioning challenges for both parents and children, especially during high-stress “hot spots” in the daily routine. You’ll learn additional evidence-informed strategies to support planning and prioritizing, organization, time management, emotional control, and working memory. Adina will share practical tools and techniques to help you strengthen executive skills and manage your home life with more confidence and calm.
