This course meets ASHA's Ethics PD requirement.
This 4-hour presentation will cover all things related to ethics. Speech-language pathologists in a supervisory role can benefit from increased awareness of issues pertaining to ethical conduct. An overview of sections of the ASHA Code of Ethics pertaining to supervision will be followed by a discussion of recurring themes in ethical issues confronting supervisors and mentors of clinical fellows. The presentation will also explore ethical matters related to children with PFD. Resources will be reviewed, and how to apply these resources to common ethical dilemmas. As social media becomes commonplace in the world of speech pathology, ethical considerations will be discussed. Finally, as speech-language pathologists have more flexibility in working across different practice settings throughout their careers, ethical challenges will be examined.
