Evaluating an individual who stutters involves many considerations and applications of current best practices. This first evaluation session with a person who stutters sets the stage for future therapy and provides an impression of stuttering for that individual. SLPs should be familiar with the cognitive, social, and emotional implications and how to best assess these in individuals who stutter across the lifespan. Stuttering evaluation must include more than just a behavioral assessment of disfluencies. Participants in this course will gain confidence in identifying the impact on their clients who stutter and plans for initiating treatment.
