This presentation will review the importance of early identification in young children with communication delays, the benefits and outcomes of early intervention, and barriers to receiving services. The need for preparation of early intervention speech-language pathologists will be discussed. A review of tools available for screening and assessing young children with communication and developmental delays will be presented. The Communication and Symbolic Behavior Scales Developmental Profile™ (CSBS-DP) will be introduced and reviewed. The presenter will discuss ways the CSB-DP forms and checklists can be utilized in clinical practice when assessing young children and monitoring progress. Ways in which SLPs can share resources and educate families and healthcare providers about early identification of communication delays be discussed. The presenter will provide a resource list for attendees. Participants will also have opportunities for Q and A related to topics discussed.
