Presenters will discuss the importance of utilizing a dynamic assessment approach when assessing culturally and linguistically diverse populations, due to the inherent cultural biases found within traditional, standardized assessments. Additionally, presenters will examine how implicit biases impact overall assessment practices in the field of speech-language pathology. This workshop will analyze various regulations, laws, and guidelines related to working with individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse populations and multilingual learners. Attendees will learn about a variety of evidence-based speech-language assessments and the application of standardized and non-standardized assessment measures to evaluate minoritized individuals.
