This course is part 1 of a 2-part course. This course will outline clinical considerations and best practices for comprehensive assessment of neurological voice disorders of different types of spasmodic dysphonia and vocal tremor. Characteristics and presentation of the 3 types of spasmodic dysphonia and vocal tremor; differential diagnosis between vocal tremor, spasmodic dysphonia and muscle tension dysphonia; collaboration with laryngologists in assessment; pathophysiology of spasmodic dysphonia and vocal tremor; patient perspective and patient-centered assessment; a framework for how to view spasmodic dysphonia and vocal tremor according to the WHO ICF model as well as effective voice assessment procedures for spasmodic dysphonia and vocal tremor for treatment planning will be discussed.
