This interactive presentation will explore the powerful collaboration between Speech-Language Pathologists and Literacy Professionals in the educational setting to support literacy development. Phonological awareness is a foundational skill for reading and writing, and as experts in language, SLPs play a critical role in ensuring students develop these essential skills. When paired with the expertise of Literacy Professionals within an MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) framework, this partnership enhances literacy instruction, provides targeted interventions, and improves student outcomes. A key focus will be practical implementation, equipping SLPs with evidence-based strategies to integrate phonological awareness into intervention and classroom collaboration. Attendees will gain tools for engaging students through multisensory approaches, structured literacy techniques, and data-driven decision-making to support progress monitoring.
Additionally, we will delve into the MTSS framework, highlighting how SLPs can effectively collaborate within this model to provide tiered support and enhance student outcomes. By the end of this session, SLPs will leave with a clear understanding of how to leverage their expertise in phonology alongside Literacy Professionals to create a literacy-rich environment that promotes reading success for all students. We will also explore opportunities for interprofessional collaboration within the MTSS framework, emphasizing strategies to advance student outcomes through coordinated efforts. Join us to discover how interprofessional collaboration can maximize student achievement and strengthen literacy instruction.
