This course will examine the role of successful approaches to engaging and supporting individuals who struggle to tune in to and process essential auditory and/or visual information while also tuning out background or nonessential details. Options available to professionals who work with clients who have difficulty self-regulating attention will be reviewed. The course will look at new insights from people with Autism Spectrum Disorder/Asperger's Syndrome that help them understand and manage their underlying sensory, executive thinking, and social communication challenges.
