This course will review approaches to a comprehensive assessment of young autistic learners. The presenter will review ways to prepare for assessments, an adaptation of case history, parent interviews, and report writing to reflect a strength-based model. The presenter will discuss methods to identify students' learning and parent communication styles and review the use of checklists, criterion reference assessments, observations, and standardized assessments that represent a comprehensive assessment of preschool and school-age autistic learners. The presenter will also review the importance of follow-up and communication with parents/caregivers after assessments in both clinical and school-based settings.
