After visiting all 72 branches of the Los Angeles Public Library with her daughter, Megan was blown away at the quality and quantity of the FREE materials and activities available for speech and language therapy and literacy use. She tells of their journey, what she learned and how she applies the rich resources in her therapy to enhance reading enjoyment as well as verbal participation.

About Presenters

Char Boshart

MA, CCC-SLP

Char Boshart, MA, CCC-SLP, is a speech-language pathologist, author, seminar presenter, and president and co-founder of Speech Dynamics, Inc. She graduated with her Master’s degree from Western Michigan University under the extraordinary tutelage of Dr. Charles Van Riper, the “father” of articulation therapy during the final years of his illustrious career. Char began her career in the public schools in the early 70’s with a caseload of over 110 children. Since then, she has worked many years in the public schools, developed and ran her own private practice, and, for seven years was an Assistant Professor and Department Chair of the Speech Pathology and Audiology Department at Loma Linda University in southern California. Her interest in creating effective therapy techniques has evolved into the development of several practical articulation publications, videos (articulation and language), and articles.

Megan Panatier

MS, CCC-SLP

Megan is a Speech Language Pathologist at Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), and a Board Member of the Children’s Literature Council of Southern California (CLCSC). She attended undergraduate school for Language Studies at University of California Santa Cruz and graduated in 2001, and earned her graduate degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences at California State University Northridge, in 2006. Interestingly, in 1999, she taught English in France (CIEP), and as well as in Japan (JET) in 2002. She frequents her local public libraries with her five year old daughter and writes a blog called publiclibraryjourney.com.
