In this course, Ms. Hamaguchi focuses on understanding elementary age children with Social Communication Disorder (SCD), as well as effective ways to assess it, and how to put together targeted individual and group intervention strategies to improve social language, including greetings, etc., and conversational skill development across settings, and more.

Char Boshart is a speech-language pathologist, author, seminar presenter, and president and co-founder of Speech Dynamics, Inc. She graduated with her Master’s degree from Western Michigan University under the extraordinary tutelage of Dr. Charles Van Riper, the “father” of articulation therapy during the final years of his illustrious career. Char began her career in the public schools in the early 70’s with a caseload of over 110 children. Since then, she has worked many years in the public schools, developed and ran her own private practice, and, for seven years was an Assistant Professor and Department Chair of the Speech Pathology and Audiology Department at Loma Linda University in southern California. Her interest in creating effective therapy techniques has evolved into the development of several practical articulation publications, videos (articulation and language), and articles.

Patti Hamaguchi is a seminar presenter, author, writer and creator of diagnostic tools, and owner of a thriving private practice. She earned her M.A. degree in Speech-Language Pathology from The College of New Jersey and worked in the public schools (all grades) for over 15 years. She is the author of Childhood Speech, Language, and Listening Problems: What Every Parent Should Know, and the TAPS-4 (Test of Auditory Processing Skills--4th Edition (2018). Most recently Patti co-authored a standardized test the RESCA-E (Receptive-Expressive-Social Communication Assessment--Elementary). She will soon publish the RESCA-A (for adolescents), the RESCA-ELD (early language development), and the Early Language Communication Inventory (ELCI).
