This course will review the background and approaches to implementing culturally responsive parent and caregiver coaching in early intervention services. The presenter will review culturally responsive steps clinicians can take in working with culturally diverse clients and families, including self-reflection and self-assessment, as well as the rationale and methods of ethnographic interviewing. The presenter will review the importance and methods for identifying cultural and linguistic differences (family values, parenting styles, societal and parental attitudes and beliefs of professionals, disabilities, and the therapy process) that may impact service delivery. Positive outcomes of culturally responsive early intervention approaches and coaching will be included. The presenter will share resources for clinicians and parents.
