This conference will dive into various topics of autism. Foundational skills for preschool-aged students will be discussed. In addition, IEP development targeting the foundational skills will be outlined. Materials related to assessment and therapy approaches to improve engagement, interaction, and prelinguistic skills in autistic preschool and school-aged children. Presenters will review informal and formal assessments that school-based and clinic-based speech-language pathologists can use to evaluate and identify prelinguistic and play skills. Presenters will review the rationale for choosing and developing goals and provide a resource of goals to use for school and clinic-based practice. Evidenced-based approaches and activities and play-based materials will be discussed.
