Dr. Dakota Sharp is an audiologist, clinical assistant professor, and lifelong learner. He specializes in pediatrics, hearing aids, and cochlear implants in the clinical setting, but has a passion for educating future clinicians, patients, and families. He earned
his BA in Communication Sciences & Disorders from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and as an Honors Scholar. He remained in The Burg to earn his Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) from James Madison University as well.
After completing his externship with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in Atlanta, GA, Dr. Sharp’s passion for pediatrics was solidified. He joined the faculty of the University of South Carolina in 2019 as a clinical assistant professor and audiologist in the
Montgomery Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic.
In his time at U of SC, Dr. Sharp has established their first Pediatric Hearing Aid Program and Natural Sleep Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) Program in partnership with the state’s Newborn Hearing Screening Program, First Sound. Dr. Sharp finds immense joy in teaching the Introduction to Audiology and Aural (Re)Habilitation course to future Speech-Language Pathologists at UofSC. He serves his community locally through his work with Beginnings and the Alzheimer’s Association, and is a member of the South Carolina Academy of Audiology. In his spare time, Dr. Sharp loves to cook, watch movies, read, and play music with his family.
