Course Description

Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) foster vocabulary development by embedding evidence-based practices within a broad range of therapy activities.  Learn two approaches for selecting vocabulary target words and nine techniques for explicitly teaching vocabulary. Numerous “Ready-to-Use” activities from preschool age through adolescents will be provided. In addition, SLPs will learn numerous intervention activities for vocabulary knowledge within the context of reading grade-level books. Applying these evidence-based interventions will offer clinicians a working framework to enhance vocabulary development.

About Presenters

Cathy Alexander

Cathy Alexander, MA CCC-SLP has worked in public school settings and private clinics for the past 20 years. Cathy is the author of WH Question Blast Off and Core Curriculum Articulation S, L, and R. Cathy has a strong interest in teaching vocabulary to children and adolescents. Cathy is a 2017 ASHA presenter and serves as an educational consultant. Cathy has previously presented several sessions across the nation on vocabulary development.
