Within the school setting, collaboration of SLPs, teachers, support staff, and administrators is a key—sometimes a hidden key—to academic success. Typically, the SLP initiates the first steps and forges the way to shaping working-relationships and collaboration connections. This course explains how to do just that. She suggests starting the process with presenting at the school staff meeting; she details the topics and the process. She covers collaboration and therapy scheduling tips, time-efficiency techniques, as well as how to “select” teachers for collaboration.

Char Boshart is a speech-language pathologist, author, seminar presenter, and president and co-founder of Speech Dynamics, Inc. She graduated with her Master’s degree from Western Michigan University under the extraordinary tutelage of Dr. Charles Van Riper, the “father” of articulation therapy during the final years of his illustrious career. Char began her career in the public schools in the early 70’s with a caseload of over 110 children. Since then, she has worked many years in the public schools, developed and ran her own private practice, and, for seven years was an Assistant Professor and Department Chair of the Speech Pathology and Audiology Department at Loma Linda University in southern California. Her interest in creating effective therapy techniques has evolved into the development of several practical articulation publications, videos (articulation and language), and articles.

Frankie Strickland, a speech-language pathologist, has worked with toddlers through adults in the educational and private sectors. Over the past 20+ years, along with working as a speech language pathologist, Frankie has served in a variety of educational and leadership roles including Special Education Director, Struggling Student Support Specialist Coordinator, and Special Education Consultant. Also, Frankie was a distinguished member of the Georgia School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist Leadership Team, established through the Georgia Department of Education. She helped develop a state-wide training program that focused on the collaboration of SLPs and general education teachers. She is the Founder of Talktrac (talktrac.com), that offers therapists the ability to easily collect therapy data, manage their day-to-day responsibilities, and write report progress to parents, teachers, and administrators.
