Course Description

This course will discuss dysphagia and the role of the speech-language pathologist in the identification of pathophysiology via CSE, MBS, FEES. Content will include components of a comprehensive evaluation including cranial nerve examinations, instrumental evaluations, risk vs. benefit analysis, and the three pillars of pneumonia through exploration of research & evidence-based practice.

About Presenters

Brooke Beilman

MS, CCC-SLP

Brooke Beilman, MS, CCC-SLP is a full-time member of Tactile Medical’s Oncology team, a board member for Dysphagia Outreach Project, an affiliate for Medbridge, and has previously partnered with Speech TherapyPD and Tactus Therapy on affiliate projects. She is certified in NMES, myofascial release, and MDTP. She is the recipient of the ASHA ACE Award, co-founder of Servant Leadership, member of SIG 13, and member of the Medical SLP Collective. Brooke has presented at the state and national levels and has been a guest on the Understanding Dysphagia Podcast Episode 4. She has been the host for continuing education webinars for both the Medical SLP Collective and Tactile Medical and has been the content creator for online platforms for both organizations.

MA, CCC-SLP

Kate Hoener, MA, CCC-SLP is employed with Fox Rehabilitation and Mercy Hospital, is an independent contractor for Patcom Medical & Tactile Medical, and is the owner of Mid Missouri Dysphagia Diagnostics mobile FEES company. She is the recipient of 4 ASHA ACE Awards, a co-founder of Servant Leadership, board member of dysphagia outreach project, member of the Med SLP Collective, Dysphagia Research Society (DRS), SIG 13 & SIG 3. She is certified in MBSImP, MDTP, Ampcare, Manual therapy, achieved FEES competency, and served as a clinic fellowship supervisor for five clinicians. She presented at the state and local levels and was a guest on the Swallow Your Pride Podcast: Episode 121.
